Certified to Military Standard 810 F for blowing rain, humidity, and salt fog. Designed to withstand exposure to rain, sleet, and snow. Rubber encasing, interior linings and seals protect the phone’s antenna, speakerphone, keys, battery door, and accessory connections against water intrusion.

Group Connect
Users can instantly connect a group of people nationwide - all at once - with Nextel's group walkie-talkie service.

GPS Enabled
Lets you view your approximate location and when making 911 calls helps emergency personnel to locate you if your phone had adequate access to GPS satellite signal and the emergency response center is equipped to process such signals. Supports non-Java location-enhanced services such as Mobile Locator^TM.

Java Applications for the i355
Get answers at your fingertips or take a break from a hectic schedule with included applications and games. Pre-loaded applications include: TeleNav 3.0 for audible driving direction (requires subscription) and 1KTV multimedia for news (requires subscription). Games include: Tetris Demo and JAMDAT Bowling Demo. 

Direct Talk
Nextel's all-digital off-network walkie-talkie that works anywhere, anytime between compatible phones within a range of up to 6 miles (range will vary based on terrain and conditions). Direct Talk provides reliable back-up communications tool in times of emergency, network outage, or when traveling to remote areas not under Nextel coverage such as hiking, cruise vacations or inside buildings.

Vibrant display with enhanced clarity allows you to customize your screen with downloadable wallpapers, adjustable color palettes, and choice of three font sizes.

Speakerphone
Hands-free cellular conversations are always available with the built-in speakerphone.

Multimedia Messaging Service
Send or receive Multimedia Messages (either audio, images, text, or all three in the same message) to or from email addresses and other Nextel multimedia messaging users. You can even wirelessly store multimedia on a Nextel web site. 

Direct Send
Nextel, the leader in Push-to-Talk^(SM) communications, now gives you the ability to Push-to-Send contact information from your i355's contact list to other Nextel Direct Send-enabled phones…instantly!

Airplane Mode
Turn off network connection and use programs, games, voice record, and datebook. Check FAA rules and regulations for proper use of electronics during flight. Phone will display “Airplane Mode” while in use and display “Service Restricted Airplane Mode On”.

Voice Activation
Press a button and speak to dial numbers or access features

Voice Record
Capture memos or phone conversations for future playback of phone numbers, tasks, or driving directions (caller must notify other party of any call recording).

Vibracall Alert
Discrete vibrating call notifications in quiet or noisy environments.

600 Contact Entries
Store up to seven numbers for each contact (up to 600 entries)

Downloadable Ring Tones
Use the “Downloads” menu to choose from hundreds of additional ring tones to personalize your phone, and assign unique ring tones to contacts for audible notification and caller identification during incoming calls. Phone-initiated purchases and downloads require a Nextel Online plan.

Access the last twenty sent and received calls for quick call return or number storage

Walkie-Talkie Speaker / Privacy Mode

Set your phone and instantly connect to the last Direct Connect call or an assigned Direct Connect contact by pressing the PTT button (also works for Group Connect).

Keypad Lock
